Celebrate National Pet Day April 11, 2018!

National Pet Day is tomorrow! How will you be celebrating? Perhaps with a nice afternoon trip to the dog park, a special meal for your furry pal, or even a few gifts. I know that if my rescue dog Watson wasn’t in my life it would be a whole lot more empty, so this National Pet Day we’re gonna celebrate like crazy! Here are just 4 of Watson’s favorite ways to celebrate National Pet Day.

1. Couch Cuddles

Cuddles are the pawfect way to show your fluffy pals how much you love them any time of the year!

Let’s face it, we all cuddle our pooches any chance we get, but there are a few ways to make the snuggles extra cozy on National Pet Day. Grab your coziest blanket, a few of Fido’s favorite stuffed toys, and a bowl of his favorite treats. Then slouch onto that couch and settle in for a long evening of bingeing some of your favorite doggy movies!

2. Gourmet Homemade Meal

If you really want to spoil your pup then try your hand at cooking up a homemade dinner for the both of you!

Here is one of Watson’s favorite recipes for a good home cooked and balanced meal:

Easy Crock Pot Chicken and Veg

Ingredients:

4 Chicken Breasts

½ C Green Beans, Chopped

½ C Carrots, Chopped

½ C Broccoli, Chopped

½ C Rolled Oats (optional)

4 C Water

Instructions:

Put all ingredients into a slow cooker.

Set slow cooker on low and cook for 6-8 hours.

Serve a bowlful when it has cooled.

3. Beach Trip

If you are lucky enough to have a flexible day job you might want to take your pooch to the nearest dog friendly beach or park for a little afternoon romp.

She’ll get her extra energy out and you’ll be able to enjoy the fresh air and great outdoors! It’s a win-win for everyone.
